The Chevy Silverado 2500 HD has been on the market for 20 years now, and there are a few updates in store for this truck to celebrate the anniversary. While the Silverado continues with the same handsome design on the outside, there are now two new colors available for the 2021 model year – Mosaic Black Metallic and Cherry Red Tintcoat. The LT trim also now offers EZ Lift and power lock and release tailgate function as standard features.
There are also a few updates inside the cabin, where a covered upper armrest storage area is now standard in the 40/20/40 split of the Work Truck and Custom configurations. These trims also gained two additional USB ports. The truck overall now offers an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a partial video display of the cargo bed.
Finally, Chevy upgraded the Safety Essential package to now include forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, steering wheel audio controls, and a driver information display to help keep you safer on the roads.
The Silverado nameplate began as a high-level trim for the C/K lineup in the 1970s and became the automaker’s flagship pickup truck in 1999. Then, two years later in 2001 the Silverado 2500 HD fully replaced the remaining C/K much to the delight of truck shoppers across the country. This new pickup offered a muscly powertrain, a more durable suspension, and the toughness necessary to get every job done.
After six successful years on the market, Chevy redesigned the Silverado 2500 for the 2007 model year. As the years have passed, Chevy regularly updates the designs and trim levels to ensure that the Silverado 2500 HD offers big capabilities, hearty power technology, and safety features.
With over 100 years of making pickups and 20 years of making the Silverado 2500 HD, it’s safe to say that Chevrolet knows how to make an exceptional pickup truck.
