Following a complete redesign just one year earlier, the 2021 Sierra 2500 HD arrives with state-of-the-art technology to assist with trailering duties. A trailer length indicator helps you see when the traffic around you might interfere with your attempts to merge or change lanes with a trailer in tow. You can also use the jackknife alert to monitor your trailer’s movements and take action when correction is necessary. The truck bed can be equipped with the Multi-Pro tailgate, and this highly configurable addition comes standard in the SLE trim. If you opt for the high-end Denali trim, you’ll also have a high-definition 360-degree camera as well as a bed-view camera. The newly available Diamond Edition upgrade furnishes the Denali with power-retractable running boards and black 20-inch wheels.
When equipped for optimized trailering, the 2021 model can tow up 18,500 pounds. It can also haul a 3,979-pound payload in the truck bed. A 401-horsepower V8 engines comes standard for 464 lb-ft of torque, and GMC also offers a Duramax diesel V8 to generate 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. Despite its incredible power and membership within the heavy-duty truck class, the Sierra 2500 handles with surprising ease even when you have a cumbersome trailer latched behind you.
The Sierra 2500 HD provides plenty of passenger space for your entire crew, with the option for a front-row bench or bolstered bucket seats. The cab sports durable, high-quality materials for a comfortable ride out when the work is done, and upper trim levels like the upscale Denali display a handsome fit and finish to complement raw power with refined style. To customize the truck, you can equip it with available features like a head-up display, wireless device charging, a heated steering wheel, and more.
In 1962, GM introduced a well-rounded pickup truck that would lay the foundation for their modern Sierra. The truck was originally available in two body types known as the “Fenderside” and “Wideside.” Five years later, it underwent a thorough redesign to begin its gradual development into the GMC Sierra. In 1999, the manufacturer brought the Sierra 1500 to lead their lineup as their flagship truck, replacing the old C/K models with Regular Cab and Extended Cab body styles. A heavy-duty version followed, loaded by a powerful V8 engine. Ever since the arrival of the Sierra 2500 HD, the truck has garnered a dedicated following within the heavy-duty market for its astounding work-focused abilities.
